National Long Distance Orienteering Race in Ethe

An orienteering competition open to all, starting from the ARNO school in Ethe, to explore the Gaume countryside with map and compass in hand.

On 28 June 2026, the ARNO school in Ethe will host a National Long Distance orienteering race with a start at 1 pm. This event invites participants to navigate the surrounding countryside using a detailed map and compass, in a format that emphasises endurance and strategy.

Ethe, a small village between Virton and the French border, offers typical Gaume rolling terrain with farm tracks, woods and meadows. The event is aimed at both amateur athletes and experienced orienteers, in a friendly atmosphere where everyone progresses at their own pace. Families are also welcome to come and cheer on the runners.

If you're staying in Gaume that weekend, it's a chance to discover an outdoor discipline that's little publicised but fascinating. Bring walking shoes and something to drink. Access by car from gîtes in the region is easy, as Ethe is just a few kilometres from Virton.
