Discover the archaeological heritage of the Greater Region through excavations, remains and the fascinating work of those who study buried history.

European Archaeology Days: explore the region's ancient past

The European Archaeology Days return on 9 July 2026 across the Greater Region. This annual event features site visits, hands-on workshops and talks with archaeologists, shedding light on the Gallo-Roman, medieval and prehistoric past of the area.

From Belgian Gaume to neighbouring Luxembourg, various heritage sites open their doors for the occasion. Families, history buffs and lovers of ancient stones can explore remains often closed the rest of the year, in a friendly and educational atmosphere.

Wear sturdy shoes and check local programmes a few days ahead, as activities vary by participating municipality. It's an enriching cultural outing, perfect to pair with a walk in Anlier forest or a stop in a traditional village.
