175 Years of ARNO Celebrated at the Musée Gaumais

The Musée Gaumais pays tribute to ARNO, the region's historic archaeological society, through an exhibition tracing its journey since 1851.

From 22 May to 18 August 2026, the Musée Gaumais in Virton hosts an exhibition dedicated to the 175th anniversary of ARNO (Royal Association of Naturalists and Archaeologists of the Neufchâteau judicial district). This learned society, founded in 1851, has greatly contributed to understanding the archaeological and natural heritage of Gaume.

Located in the heart of Virton, the exhibition reveals ARNO's role in preserving the Gaume identity. Archive documents, objects collected during excavations, and historical photographs trace the evolution of this local institution. The Musée Gaumais, situated on rue d'Arlon, provides the perfect setting to showcase this chapter of regional history.

If you're staying in Gaume during the summer, this exhibition offers a fine opportunity to grasp the region's roots. Take time to wander through Virton's town centre after your visit—its shopping streets and cafés add to the pleasure of discovery.
