Gaume & Arlon : ce week-end, la région s'anime (22-24 mai 2026)

A May weekend to savour

May has a way of exceeding expectations. This weekend, between the Gaume countryside and the historic town of Arlon, the region offers a rich and varied programme — cultural, gastronomic, sporty or simply peaceful — well worth building a short break around.

A taste of Provence in the heart of Gaume

From Friday, a Mediterranean breeze blows through the Gaume. Le village provençal brings handcrafted soaps, lavender, macarons, olives, tapenades, artisan cheeses and Corsican specialities together in one colourful market. Pottery, embroidered tablecloths and santons complete the picture — a sunny escape for those who love to browse and taste.

Plants and heritage: the medicinal walk

Also on Friday morning, a more intimate experience awaits nature lovers. The Balade médicinale en Gaume runs from 11am to noon, with a group limited to 12 participants (booking required, €10). An hour spent reconnecting with the living landscape, guided by someone who knows every plant by name and by virtue.

Theatre on the farm: for all ages

On Saturday, head to La Campagnarde, the Jacoby family farm in Poncelle. Théâtre: La Ferme features two wildly enthusiastic ventriloquists at 11:30am and 2pm (35 minutes). A show that will delight children and grown-ups alike, set against a genuinely rural backdrop.

The Maitrank Festival in Arlon

On Sunday 24 May, Arlon celebrates one of its most beloved traditions: the Fêtes du Maitrank | Arlon 2026. This aperitif, made from white wine and sweet woodruff, is the Gaumais symbol of spring conviviality. A must for anyone wishing to soak up the local spirit.

Just walk

For a gentle close to the weekend, the Marche des Galopins offers a free, no-registration-required 12 km group walk on Saturday at 2pm, starting from the local sports complex. A fine way to take in the Gaume countryside at an easy pace and in good company.

This weekend sums up what makes the Gaume so easy to fall for: a gentle pace of life, deep-rooted traditions, and the effortless way the region blends nature and culture. To make the most of it, a comfortable and well-placed base makes all the difference — Gîtes de Gaume welcomes you right in the heart of it all.
