This weekend in the Gaume region and beyond: lynx, walkers and funfair (June 2026)
From the Ardennes trails to the screens of the Greater Region, the weekend of 8–9 June 2026 offers a rich programme for nature lovers, culture seekers and food enthusiasts alike. Here is our selection of the best things to do in and around the Gaume.

A June weekend for exploring, walking and being moved
June is settling in gently over the hills of the Gaume and the Ardennes forests, bringing long evenings filled with possibility. This weekend of 8–9 June 2026, the region offers plenty of reasons to step outside — whether you love open landscapes, thoughtful cinema or the simple pleasure of a lively local market.
Lace up your boots: two walking groups on Sunday
On Sunday 8 June, two guided walks are on offer in the region: a 6–8 km walking group for those who prefer a leisurely pace through the countryside, and a more demanding 12 km walking group for seasoned hikers. Two ways to breathe in the Luxembourg landscape at your own rhythm.
The lynx is coming back — and it deserves your attention
This is arguably the most distinctive event of the weekend. On 8 June, the Pays de Bouillon hosts a film screening and discussion evening about the fragile return of the lynx to our forests. Free but requiring prior registration, the event combines a documentary screening with a conversation with conservation specialists. An evening that touches something essential: the quiet rewilding happening right on our doorstep.
Local flavours at the Rumelange market
Also on Sunday, the Rumelange monthly market sets out its stalls of seasonal fruits, vegetables and local specialities in a warm, convivial atmosphere. A perfect detour to stock up before heading back to the gîte.
The Schueberfouer: eight centuries of fairground tradition
From 9 June, the legendary Schueberfouer opens its gates in Luxembourg City. Founded eight centuries ago, this enormous funfair is the largest in the entire Greater Region — a joyful, popular event well worth the trip if you are extending your weekend towards the Grand Duchy's capital.
British Sports Cars in Luxembourg
For those who appreciate beautiful machinery, 9 June also brings the British Sports Cars in Luxembourg gathering. Elegant lines, vintage engines and shared passion — a stylish outing in a setting that matches.
This weekend captures something essential about the region: nature and culture coexist here without competing. The Gîtes de Gaume welcome you at the heart of this countryside, so that every outing begins and ends in the quiet comfort of a real home away from home.
