What to Do in the Gaume and Belgian Luxembourg Province? Our Early September 2026 Guide
Provençal markets, puppet festivals, musical aperitifs and contemporary art: discover our selection of the finest outings in the Gaume and Belgian Ardennes for early September 2026.

A gentle transition to autumn in the Gaume
September settles in with that special light that makes our villages so beautiful. Terraces linger, bandstands come alive and the region offers one last breath of summer before the autumn colours arrive. Here is our selection of outings to enjoy over the coming days.
Aperitifs set to music, an invitation to slow down
There is nothing quite like an open-air drink accompanied by a live orchestra to open the week. From 1 September, the Bandstand Aperitif with festive orchestra welcomes you to the heart of Virton for a convivial, delightfully old-fashioned moment. The tradition continues on 5 September with the Troïka Aperitif at the Saint-Mard bandstand, once again carried by the Orchestre de la Fête. Two perfect ways to taste the Gaume way of life.
Puppets come alive in the heart of the Ardenne
For families and the curious alike, the Puppet Festival is a must: twelve international companies, twenty-five performances, indoor shows, big-top entertainment and street theatre. A joyful, poetic immersion to share with the little ones.
The South of France comes to us
From 4 to 6 September, let yourself be swept away by the scents and colours of the Provençal Village, an authentic travelling market from the South of France. Craftspeople, producers, that lilting accent and sun-kissed dishes: instant escapism just a few kilometres from your gîte.
Contemporary art takes over Virton
Finally, art lovers won't want to miss Cuest'Art, which transforms twenty-five venues in Virton into ephemeral galleries featuring thirty-seven artists, on the weekends of 5-6 and 12-13 September. A creative stroll, complete with a pop-up bar at the Galerie du Cheval Blanc.
An art of living worth cultivating
And what if these discoveries could be extended in the calm of a characterful home? Gîtes-Gaume opens its doors so you can fully savour this corner of Belgium, between adventures and well-deserved rest.
