October in the Gaume: Four Local Highlights for a Weekend in Southern Belgium
October brings a soft, honeyed light that begs you to step outside, wander, and meet people. In Belgium's Luxembourg Province, villages still live by their own rhythms — and this weekend, the Gaume has nothing to envy of any city.
Ethe en f'Ethe: Four Days of Village Celebrations
From 9 to 12 October, Ethe en f'Ethe unfolds its full folklore: a giant omelette, pétanque tournaments, a 80s-90s-2000s dance party, and a live concert by Polypockets. It is the Gaume at its most honest — eating together, laughing, dancing under string lights.
Marche des Galopins: Nine Kilometres of Golden October
On 10 October, depart Hamawé at 2 p.m. for the Marche des Galopins. Nine kilometres, in a group, free, no registration — just a trail, walking companions, and the forest turning russet. Simple as that, and infinitely more rewarding.
Jean-Claude Servais Signs La femme-chat in Lambermont
The 10th also brings book-signing with JC Servais in Lambermont, a rare chance to meet the comic-book master who has immortalised Gaume's landscapes and legends in his pages.
Journées des Langues et des Cultures in Arlon
Over 9, 10 and 11 October, Arlon hosts the Journées des Langues et des Cultures: workshops, an exhibition, and concerts celebrating the multilingual richness of this corner of Belgium. A perfect family outing, only a short drive from the countryside.
A Pause Before the Evening
These gatherings weave the living thread of the Gaume — the same thread you extend around a kitchen table at night, when the fire crackles and the day is still warm. The Gîtes-Gaume are here to let you linger, mug of herbal tea in hand, making the weekend last a little longer.
