Halloween in Gaume: Five Unmissable Outings for Late October 2026

Haunted village walks, a blood-red swimming pool, a wine fair, an after-dark museum evening: Gaume and the Arlon region celebrate Halloween with a warmth you won't find anywhere else in Belgium.

Halloween en Gaume : cinq sorties qui illuminent la fin octobre 2026

Gaume dressed in autumn colours: our picks for this last October weekend

The leaves are turning crimson, the orchards smell of pressed fruit, and the villages of the Gaume are preparing to celebrate the dead the only way they know how — around a table, a glass, a good walk among neighbours. Five addresses, chosen for travellers passing through.

Saturday 30 October: the gentle spookiness of village life

At six p.m., the Haunted Walk in Respelt gathers residents and curious visitors for a candy-fuelled procession through the village lanes. No grand show, just the warmth of a community sharing sweets and laughter. A perfect way to feel a corner of Gaume pulse in three hours.

That same evening in Arlon, the Halloween Evening at Autelbas Museum pairs lanterns, archaeological anecdotes and very mild frights. A cultural outing that follows a day on the footpaths beautifully.

Sunday 31 October: Virton goes blood-red

The pool basin at Virton's municipal swimming centre turns blood-red from 2 p.m. for the Halloween Pool Night at Virton. Free, open to all, a touch kitsch and utterly irresistible. Children adore it; parents, slightly less so — but you can't have everything.

In Sugny, deep in the Pays de Bouillon, the Children's Halloween Party transforms the local football-hall clubhouse into a kingdom of tiny costumed creatures. Festive, stress-free, ideal for families.

31 October to 1 November: slow toasting in Signeulx

You cannot leave Gaume an autumn weekend without a glass in hand. The 18th Signeulx Wine Fair brings producers and wanderers together around the best this small region's earth can yield. Two days to taste without hurrying.

After the walk, the red bath, a glass of local Pinot: the night in a cottage will carry that particular scent of a village falling quiet. Gaume is waiting for you.
