November in Gaume and the Ardennes: five authentic events worth staying a little longer
Horse blessings, a night at the Musée gaumais, willow-weaving workshops: November 2026 in Belgium's Luxembourg province unfolds at the rhythm of old Ardennes traditions.

When Saint Hubert kicks off the season of traditions
November has a very particular flavour in Gaume and the Belgian Luxembourg province. Between mist rising off meadows, the smell of woodsmoke, and ancient rites marking the rural calendar, this month rewards those willing to linger. Here are five gatherings that make slowing down worthwhile.
3–4 November: Saint Hubert, patron of the Ardennes
Start the week with the Horse Blessing in the Saint-Hubert Forest, a ceremony rooted in centuries of rural life. That same evening, head to the Conserverie in Tenneville for the Vespers and Horn Calls by the Collège de Saint-Hubert — music, good cheer, the ancestral sound of hunting horns. You can feel the pulse of a land that has forgotten nothing.
6 November: A Night at the Musée gaumais
Armed with nothing but a torch, young and old will follow the trail of a lost knight's scattered soul at A Night at the Musée gaumais in Arlon. Riddles, suspense, collections turned upside down — the kind of evening you recount in March.
6–9 November: Lahage en Fête
An entire weekend of celebration around Saint Hubert: markets, music, local produce. The village of Lahage en Fête lives at its own pace for four glorious days, to the delight of any wanderer.
6–7 November: The art of hands in Montquintin
For lovers of slow craft, the Willow-weaving workshops offer two full days of basket and bag plaiting guided by passionate artisans. Fingers in the willow, mind elsewhere.
And while you're here, there's no rush. One more night, a good book, mist over the fields at dawn — Gaume is best savoured slowly.
